I think he also had a little bit of the Falcon in him. The way he hid the fact that he was a mutant from the team.

I thought it was proven that he was a mutant and that is how he is able to talk to Red WIng (think that was the birds name).

IIRC Falcon's powers came from the Cosmic Cube

That's right, Falcon isn't a mutant. He got his telepathic link with Redwing from the Cosmic Cube.

That Sentinel in the Falcon mini was malfunctioning, which is why it erroneously thought the Falcon was a mutant.
