The mysterious Mister X is both the brains and the billions behind the formation of the JLX, who broke from the ranks of the JLA in order to help Mister X in seeking the lost city of Atlantis, a mutant safe-haven.
The powerful telepath Mister X is secretly one of the Martian Skrulls - a race of shapechangers whose one weakness is flame.
Mister X secretly provided the funding to launch the Cadmus Prokect, hoping that Cadmus' scientists would find Atlantis for him. Unfortunately, they focused on trying to replicate Super-Soldier instead; the result being the creation of Spider-Boy.
Imprisoned during the <i>Armageddon Agenda</i>, Mr X and the rest of the JLX were released by Wonder Woman to battle the demonic Fin Fang Flame.
