Todd made a deal in a New Orleans bar for a magic set of playing cards that would "change his life". The cards served as a focus for his mutant ability to change into an insubstantial shadowy form. Todd has a relationship with Runaway, but fears she may be corrupted by his dark side.
Wraith followed Mr X when he formed the JLX from the ranks of the Judgement League Avengers, and aided him on his quest to find Mariner's lost home of Atlantis, a long-lost mutant safe-haven.
During the <i>Armageddon Agenda</i>, Wraith disappeared with the aid of the Shadow Guild. His current whereabouts are unknown.
