<a href="http://x-mencomics.com/xfan/images/games/ps2weaponx03.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://x-mencomics.com/xfan/images/games/ps2weaponx03t.jpg" align=left alt="X-Men: Wolverine's Revenge PS2 screenshot"></a>Releasing simultaneously with the X-Men 2 feature film, Activision's upcoming X-Men 2: Wolverine's Revenge™ game is the only PlayStation® 2, Xbox™, Nintendo® GameCube™, Game Boy® Advance and PC action-adventure that allows players to assume the role of the feral mutant Wolverine.

After discovering that a deadly X-Virus has been activated within Wolverine’s body, the player has 48 hours to acquire the antidote from the evil organisation that not only gave them the disease, but also their mutation.

Developed by Gene Pool on the Xbox and GameCube platforms, Warthog on the PS2 entertainment system, Vicarious Visions on Nintendo's GBA, and Livesay Technologies for the PC, X-Men 2: Wolverine's Revenge boasts numerous features, including:

Superhuman Mutant Powers – Unsheathe Wolverine’s trademark claws to shred your enemies. Withstand counterattacks using your unbreakable adamantium-bonded skeleton and accelerated healing ability.
High Adrenaline Action and Stealth Gameplay – Players must employ advanced stealth techniques to infiltrate high-security locations. If confronted, players can perform spectacular Wolverine combat moves in epic superhero battles. But beware: almost everything around the gamer is combustible, destructible or capable of being thrown at the player.
Dependable Allies and Malicious Foes - Good friends Beast and Colossus join the fight as the player takes on archenemies Sabertooth, Wendigo, Juggernaut, Omega Red, and Magneto. Professor Charles Xavier provides hints and clues through a telepathic link.
Captivating Storyline - A completely original, tension-inducing storyline developed by comics legend Larry Hama featuring the voices of Mark Hamill and Patrick Stewart.

The fine folks at Activision have provided X-Fan with even more screenshots from the game (see 'SECOND LOOK @ ACTIVISION'S X-MEN GAMES' (http://x-mencomics.com/xfan/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7322)). Click a thumbnail below to view the full-sized screenshot in a new browser window.

I have a question. Does this game follow the continuity of the movie, or the comic book? In the movie, Colossus is alive. In the comic book, Colossus is dead. I'm just curious as to how that's going to work.

Eric J. Moreels

The game has its own storyline, one that may or may not follow either continuity. Not that it really matters, though, as games have traditionally been out of continuity.

This game looks good...I can't wait to play the PC and PS2 version of the game. It should look great :)

*Jumps for Joy*

Colossus is going to be in this? And Beast?

Consider this game bought!

Since video games usually take over a year to produce, It might be possible that it's based on the comics, but that costume Wolvie's wearing is obviously the Quietly outfit...something that he put on after Pitor's death....perhaps they used scenes from Wolverine 176 and Wolvie fight with Pete in the
Afterworld....Has anybody seen screenshots of Beast or Colossus yet?

Check the previous article linked to in this one, SO, and you'll find some shots with Colossus in them. None yet of Beast that I've seen, but that other article also has shots of Juggernaut. Lady D is also in some screenshots over at GameSpot.com

I'd say it is, considering we're getting it here in Australia at the same time as the US, and we have UK PAL format for games.

The article states that it will be released on a PC platform (very last one in the blurb), so I'm guessing yes.

Yep, as ZMadMonk pointed out. It pays to read an article in full before replying, wolviechickie ;)

Oh yes i will have this game, don't care for the title though the being it really has NOTHING to do with the Movie. It looks great, I heard Wolverine will be in Other outfits from his past..thank you lord. Also saw a pick one time of Collossus and Wolverine doing a Fast Ball Special in the Game..Yay

:? Out of all the characters in the x-men universe, they have to use the already overused Wolverine to make a game out of. I wish they'd made a game similar to that with more characters to choose from (not like the fighting game Next Dimension-but more like a roleplaying/action game).

Will you Wolverine-Haters get over your selves already? How Many People would honestly buy a game where the main character is Cyclops? Sure a few loyal fans would pick it up but, how many people in the mass market know Cyclops, or Bishop, or Storm? Not many If you want a game based at all on the X-MEN License then it's best to go with someone that is gonna make the company some money.

Come off it already....

They will never get over themselves. I could give a crap if a bunch a' babies wanna whine that Cyclops or whoever ain't gettin' a video game. Like the Giant X said they would sell near as good as this game will. There is a reason that they decided t'make this game. An' it's 'cause Logan anthin' sells.

'Bout time they make a game like this. Even better Logan's the first one t'get the treatment. By the screen shots it looks like one hell of a game.

Jan 14, 2003, 08:08 am
what the hell? :?

I dont think it would be too much to produce a game of this nature with more than just ONE X-Man in it. it could be fun, and that way those of us 'whiny babies' (oh god LOL) could have characters we would like too, AND wolverine fans would have wolverine. but of course that's just me not "gettin' over myself..." HEEHEE....
i cant believe you guys are getting all grouchy over comic book characters. ;)

God, i love how Wolverine fans think theyre tough by association. ;)

oh God no.

Not another Story Revolving Around logan.

I'm sorry. But I'm sick of him hogging all the Story useage of Good Story's.

Well I'm sure the Game play, and Graphic will be good or ummm Fine. Or At least I'm hoping so.

other Wise I'm gonna have to wait tile and What I'm planing with some other's to get on the Seen. But Seriously the X-universe Dosen't Rotate Around old Six Claw's and it's about Time Some Certain Writer's and game maker's Realize this.

IF you want To Show off Some thing new For a Change and Seriously given Repect, For Credit where it's Due, (and I Gladly want to give that to them), then For once give the other Character's with the Title a good Story line. it'll Do wonder's For the Entire Franchise, and real Send Thing's Saoring, in other's place's.

If the other character's are to ever and I mean "Ever" Grow to the status that his and Spidey and some other marvel character's are at that have there own title's, then it's time to Share some of wealth and that's when these guy's Come up with those plot's and should Really use those other X-men. For once Try that. It'll be Original for once Coming From Marvel. it'll Show a lot of Creativity, Coming out From them For once. Gahhhhhh

Instead of Dropping Every potential Story Whether it's good or what Ever. I mean Damn if they never Every Try that, then There's No point to puting the Title on the Game cause the hole Thing About logan. Which in other Word's this Title should be Called Wolvie's and Friend's. cause once Again they keep making him over Shadow Every other Character in what Ever place Title or movie they put out and that's not Right.

I'm Truly Sorry If I Sound Rude, for say all that and What Ever. but I Really need To Say that. I haven't pick up A Wolvie Comic Since the Revamp thank's to this over Shadowing. And I may never Again, and Cuse of Marvel's alway's going "overboard" and never knowing when Too much of that "one" something is a bad thing. I 'd Wish they learn that lesson.

Ahem "Spider Clone Saga." in this Case that Right up there With that.

Sorry but From what's been Do it's True. Sigh.

ok I better bounce. I'm sure thing's will get ugly after I've said this now. and i'm not Sticking around for it.

any word on if the GBA and Game cube will work together?
If not then I want the X-Box version it looks the best of the three. The PS2 looks a little fuzzy. The Game cube looks a little bright for a wolvie game and the X-Box has a deep ness to it some how. I have to have the GBA version regardless.

Look all I'm saying is there is no use for a game with all of the X-MEN in it, Period.

If a game That only needs to have one Character (in this case Wolverine) Programmed in, then Why would anyone to to the hassle of programming other ones. The sales of the game won't invtease enough to warrant adding anyone else, they will make about the same either way. Would you go to work and pull 16 hours of overtime with out getting paid for it? Probably not, so why should the Gaming industry spend the extra time and money on a game that will make x amount of dollars either way? The same thing goes with giving good story lines to these characters in the books. If you were Marvel would you Publish a book where some guy who has invisible skin and smells bad joins the team, or would you go for the one were Wolvie has a 13 page fight scene with Saber Tooth. Most likely the fight one. Why, Because even though the invis-o kid might be a good read but It won't draw in the reads that Wolvie andSabes will by fighting. Simple fact. Jsut because you like someone doesn't make him popular.

And I'm not trying to be tough by association, I'm just tired ofwhen ever anything Wolverine comes out people start griping.
Simple fact is not enough people care about these other people to warrant them doing anything substantial

Guys, this is about the game not what you think of the Wolverine over-use debate.

This game looks excellent and I'll most likely get it. After Spider-Man: The Movie video game, my faith is renewed in Marvel video games.

Well sorry, if I gave that off.

But I do Feel What TI've said here is Substantial. you Don't want to see it that Way but That is the Way I Feel, And I Can only Speak for my Self here. But I've been seeing him(wolvie) in mini's since mid 90's and so on. That I'm kinda sick of him. even picking up old X-book's issue and your Traped in room at the store "with that face " that face."

I just didn't say much here. On other board's and other occassion's yes. Here no. But I said alot about it back in the Day. and I Try not to push my luck often. But that's all I can take of those over Doing.

Enough of him. The other X-character would progress better if marvel, would use them the way they use wolvie now.

Instead of people like "Me", (and I did see alot of don't like it ether) sick to our stumuck's of over kill of seeing him in even more. he's overrated and over Exposed.
if they'd give me more "Ve'" "ri" "ty", yo you wont be getting no Complant's From me.

I mean he became so big and popular because writers put alot in his character. The same can be done with other's. develope them more in character. which in tern will help marvel more instead of having to use Wolverine to sell a book's, in order for that book to sell instead of the book selling, because they told an Awsome story and to those other character's become greater Character's for it.

And better The qulity of the book in many Fan's and new people's eyes.

They put him into each book because they don't have Enough confedence in their writing/ story telling for that the book to sell well with the story they told.

Putting everything into only him, will not better the book's their useing him as chruch too often, and that will kill them.

Cause, their not useing Every thing that Come's with the Title "X-Men." the X-Men Are A Group of people Fighting to Save the World and Bring About peace. It's not about them Revolving Around "logan. " If They Really Want to Do that then they might as well have Renamed it Wolvie'sand his Spectating Side kick's since's that''s what they'er Turning it in to.

There no need For the X-Men Any More that this Trend Continue's. and that Wrong.

the Sooner that's realized, the better Thing's will be. And you Won't have to hear these Complaint's Ever Again.

And that's all I'm saying.

So I'm Ending with this.

Peace, I'm out.

This game looks interesting. Even know I'm not a big Wolverine fan I wanna play it. It says " use stealth to infiltrate" hahah Stealth When I think of Wolverine I think go in head first into a fight and let the Healing do the work. I'm not gonna use stealth.

Im I the only one who misses good ole 2D platform games?

Anyone remembers that X-men 2: Clone Wars game on for the Genesis console... Man that's the greatest X-men game EVER!!!

zenith16
Jan 15, 2003, 03:00 pm
Yeah I remember it.

The game play was Fine. some would say ok. The Graphic's well back then let's just say there was too much pixilation and it Show a lot of Rush Work From the people at sega. they Alway's wanted to be the one's with the "most game's" for their Game system's library out First.

But when they did that there was alway's Something missing in those game's. which why they usually fell and crashed and burned. they moved too Fast for their own good.

That was usually the main problem with Sega back in the Day. the game's were alway's Rushed. Now that they're Focusing more on just their game's, it's way better now.

but the Dream cast did Set the bar For the other Game system Company's to Try and make them selves better. So at least we Can say they got the ball Rolling.

and yes I Still do play 2D platform and other game's. but Imust say some of the 3D game's have been really Top of the line.

It's too bad that this has little to do with actual continuity, because then it would've been cool. The X-virus? From the people that gave him the mutation? Colossus? Magneto and a rag-tag bunch of goons?
I'll stick to the arcade game made by Konami in the days of yore.

I'll buy it if it is out, but I am MAJORLY dissapointed that it is Wolverine only. I fail to believe that they couldnt make a plot and having it where you could play, say, Wolverine/Cyclops/Storm/Nightcrawler/Collossus/Beast or something.
