Several centuries ago, the templar knight Dumas split from his group to found his own Order of St. Dumas. They pillaged villages to gain their wealth, and eventually came upon the fabled treasure of King Solomon. Using this capital, this secret society began collecting information to forward its personal agendae and researching technology that would advance them far beyond the rest of the known world. To guard their knowledge and wealth, the Order created the Azraels. For many generations, each Azrael passed on from father to son.

After hundreds of years, this blood lineage of inheritance was finally broken when Jean Paul Valley broke free from the Order of St. Dumas' systematical programming, which prompted them to train a new Azrael. This Azrael started out as a mere pawn in the struggle for power between Brother Rollo and Sister Lilhy. He was used mainly to incapacitate Valley when he returned demanding to know of his origins and the creation of the Azraels. The two would battle several times before a final showdown high atop a bridge, wherein Valley bested this Azrael, who fell seemingly to his death.

He later resurfaced at an underground ultimate fighting tournament in Jean Paul Valley's old Batman armour, mercilessly killing his opponents. Robin stepped in but was easily defeated. Fortunately, Batman arrived in the nick of time just as he was about to kill Robin, and handled the Azrael swiftly.

Like other Azraels before him, this Azrael was trained by the Order of St. Dumas to be a pure killing machine. He wears a different armour and costume to Jean Paul Valley, though exhibited a similar rage when he donned Valley's old Batman armour that was created by the Order's Nomoz. Like those before him, he also wields a flaming sword to slay his opponents.
