Cassie Sandsmark is a precocious teenager who has rebelled against her archaeologist mother from an early age. Whilst Cassie was in her pre-teens, she had her first encounter with Wonder Woman. After applying for a job as a visiting lecturer to Helena Sandsmark's museum, Diana met Cassie and was less than impressed with her feisty attitude. Whilst at the museum, Diana was attacked by Morgaine Le Fay and protected the Sandsmarks. This showing of courage gave Cassie a sense of respect and desire to be a superhero herself.

Shortly after the incident in the museum, Diana fought a protomatrix reproduction of Doomsday and Sinestro. Seeing made busy by both of the foes, Cassie sought to help Wonder Woman. Stealing the Sandals of Hermes and the Gauntlet of Atlas, Cassie found she could fly and had great strength. Donning a wig that Wonder Woman had previously given her and a pair of skating goggles to protect her eyes, Cassie became Wonder Girl, aiding Wonder Woman in defeating the foes. Cassie donned the costume again to aid Wonder Woman against Decay. Cassie's mother learnt of her daughter's actions and was highly disapproving, as was Wonder Woman. Cassie's desire to be a hero was further hindered by DEO (Department of Extra-Normal Operations) investigations and charges of child abuse placed on Wonder Woman due to the injuries that Cassie suffered from her fight with the Doomsday clone.

Following a summons to Olympus by the gods themselves, Cassie managed to find herself in front of Zeus. Addressing Zeus directly, in a manner that he was totally unused to, Cassie requested that he grant her powers of her own as a favour. Zeus was impressed with the young girl's courage and audacity and so granted her the powers of flight and super strength, wishing to fulfil Cassie's strongest wish. Cassie returned to Earth and discovered she had her powers before realising the drawback. Zeus knew that Helena disapproved of her actions and so made the powers come with a limitation. If she desired Helena could cancel out her daughter's powers through her will alone. Helena did begrudgingly allow Cassie to use her powers in training and Cassie trained with Artemis, Wonder Woman and Donna Troy, the first Wonder Girl. Donna was so supportive of Cassie's attempt to be a hero no matter what, that she gave her old Wonder Girl costume to Cassie. Cassie has yet to regularly wear the suit as she feels she hasn't proven herself enough to step into Donna's shoes.

As part of her training Cassie learnt a myriad of martial arts and combat strategies as well as learning to manage her powers much better. Feeling confident enough, Wonder Girl was one of the first recruits to the new Young Justice group, set up by Robin, Superboy and Impulse. Cassie immediately fell for Superboy and developed a big crush on him, which remained unreciprocated. Due to her training with Wonder Woman and her personality in general, Cassie proved a natural leader and the team, including Robin, would often defer to her judgement. Cassie was elected the team's media representative and led the team in their twilight days, including an invasion of the super villain populated island of Zandia. During one case the villain known as Silver Swan, attacked Cassie at her school, forcing her to reveal her secret identity.

Cassie then went on a search for her biological father. Travelling to Olympus, Cassie challenged Zeus, claiming that he was her father. Zeus denied all allegations and Cassie returned to question her mother. Helena encouraged Cassie but it wasn't until her secret identity was made public, that her father contacted her. Cassie saw that her father was a normal man, living an everyday life and chose not to meet with him. However, this 'normal' man was in possession of a gift that Cassie had previously given to Zeus, which would seem to suggest that Cassie's father is in fact Zeus. This evidence is unknown to Cassie and her mother.

After Young Justice lost two of their members during a battle with Darkseid, they were sponsored, along with the Titans, by a mysterious conglomerate known as Optitron. The conglomerate's offer was unable to be accepted as an android from the future, named Indigo, started attacking the teams. Both the Titans and Young Justice tried to track her down but both had sustained heavy casualties and when Indigo activated a Superman android, Titans members Lilith and Troia lost their lives. At Troia's funeral Nightwing officially disbanded the Titans team.

Feeling responsible for the deaths and injuries, Cassie more than the others, Young Justice decided that they should take a more serious approach to their heroics. With Secret powerless, Empress injured and Slobo dead, Cassie joined Robin, Superboy and Impulse in forming the newest incarnation of the Teen Titans under the guidance of Beast Boy, Cyborg and Starfire.

Cassie had been finding it hard to enrol in a new school due to her reputation as a super hero. However, some persuasion from old friends Arrowette and Secret meant that she was allowed to join St Elias' School for Girls with her two best friends. Cassie also appears to have moved her relationship with Superboy on, the two becoming closer and more romantically linked.

Cassie has been improving her powers with the Titans and is maturing into a leadership role once again. Gaining more respect from Wonder Woman and other allies in the realm of myth including the God of War Ares, Cassie appears to be fulfilling her dream of being a super hero better than any of her other teammates.

Wonder Girl has strength and flight that has been given to her by the god Zeus. Her strength appears to grow with her age, though she is still second to Superboy in terms of power. She can fly unaided at great speed. Wonder Girl also appears to have received a limited degree of invulnerability to protect her from the air resistance while flying. Recently she has been given a lasso by the god Ares. This lasso is unlike Wonder Woman's. Rather than force the person trapped within it to tell the truth, this lasso emits a large electrical discharge through the person. Wonder Girl appears unaffected by this electricity. If the lasso has any other properties, they are yet to be discovered. Wonder Girl's powers are totally dependent on the will of her mother. If her mother wants to, she can remove Wonder Girl's powers with a thought.

Couple of things, Cassie ditched the wig long before her encounter with the Silver Swan (shortly after the Sins of Youth event) and only recently lost the goggles in her costume transition from Young Justice to Teen Titans, and not only did the team members of YJ often look to her for advice (she in fact addressed the entire nation on their behalf during the Sins of Youth event), she was elected by them to be leader of the team up until it's disbanding (which included sucessfully invaded the super-villian populated country of Zandia). I'd also put in Robin 3, Impulse/Kid Flash 2, Superboy (uh 2?), and Empress in known allies, probably Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Starfire as well and probably Harm as a former villian.

Couple more things:
Secret's full name is Greta Hayes.

Cassie did not appear in YJ #s 8, 31, or 42.

She also appeared in World's Finest: Our Worlds at War #1, Superboy #91 and 94, and Impulse #77.

I agree with you to a point but I really think that the thing about the former Young Justice members (minus the post-Empress additions like Slobo, the Ray, and Snapper) isn’t so much that they’re teammates as it is that they – like the earlier incarnations of the (Teen) Titans – are friends. Heck, Cassie and Cissie are best friends and Wondergirl and Superboy are practically an item.

In other words, I understand not listing Beast Boy, Cyborg, and maybe Starfire but I really think people like Robin, Superboy, Impulse, and ... (damn I’m drawling a blank here)*... should be counted among her allies.

*Does anyone remember the name of Red Tornado II’s adopted daughter?

Fair enough. I bow to the majority. I never thought Robin and Cassie got on that well though.

Traya, yeah. I really like her, especially in that standalone prejudice issue of Young Justice. And she's funny as Cissie's "sidekick."
