When Wonder Woman (Diana of Themyscira) lost her Golden Lasso, which was made from one of two Girdles of Gaea, her global search led her to Egypt, where she first came upon the Bana Mighdall Amazons. Wonder Woman regretably found them to be a violent people, who terrorised the neighbouring human villages in the vicinity. There, she not only retrieved her lasso, but she was also surprised to find the long-lost second Girdle of Gaea in the possession of the Bana Mighdall.

Because of the Bana Mighdall's misuse of the Girdle, Wonder Woman and the god Hermes attempted to retrieve it from their hands. Not surprisingly, the Bana Mighdall would not give it up willingly. And so an anonymous Bana Mighdall Amazon was bestowed the Girdle and became the first known Shim'tar. The Shim'tar first defeated Hermes, who was presumably weakened as a male being in the Amazonian city. She then proceeded to confront Wonder Woman, who used her lasso (made from the other Girdle) in the fight. Because of the magnitude of the two artifacts' forces, the epic battle was interrupted as the city began shaking, and was eventually decimated, wherein Shim'tar was presumably killed.

The Shim'tar is the Bana Mighdall's counterpart of their Themyscirian sisters' Wonder Woman. She is an equal, if not even stronger, warrior because of her tribe's more zealous attitudes and practices. Although not granted powers by the Olympian gods like the Wonder Women, this Shim'tar gained enhanced strength, speed, and agility from wearing the other Girdle of Gaea.
