L-Ron's origins are not too clear. What is known is that at some point the interstellar merchant and leader of the Cluster, Lord Manga Kahn, acquired him. Manga Kahn took a shine to L-Ron and he became more than a piece of merchandise. L-Ron was swiftly promoted to being Manga Kahn's butler and personal assistant. L-Ron first journeyed to Earth with the Cluster when Manga Kahn came in search of Mister Miracle, who he sought to bargain with Apokolips for. L-Ron did little more than catalogue his masters actions and give him pointless pieces of advice but Maxwell Lord, the Administrator of the Justice League International, noted his usefulness.

L-Ron returned to Earth again when his master heard that the League had managed to capture the despot Despero, who had been devolved to a mindless beast. Manga Kahn traded with the League and acquired Despero, leaving L-Ron behind to become the administrative assistant at the New York Embassy. L-Ron and Max hit off a love hate relationship instantly with L-Ron often hindering rather than helping his new employer. L-Ron had another encounter with his former employer when the League called upon Manga Kahn to take away their newly acquired captive, Starro the Conqueror, who had been frozen while he attacked London.

In space, Despero had become the property of a nameless alien race. However, their control over his was removed when the Khunds destroyed their ships. Despero fell from space and managed to somehow make his way back to Earth. Eventually L-Ron and Kilowog, the League's resident inventor, managed to design a collar for Despero that would inhibit his rage, taming him and making him controllable. This collar used parts of L-Ron's circuitry and so L-Ron's consciousness became embedded onto Despero's giving L-Ron possession of an enormous body to go with his intelligence. L-Ron then returned to Manga Kahn's service as Max had been absent from the team for sometime and Manga Kahn was anxious to get both L-Ron and Despero back.

L-Ron stayed in Despero's body for sometime and returned to Earth later, warning the Martian Manhunter of the impending threat from the Overmaster. After helping the combined Justice League International, L-Ron joined the Justice League Task Force as a permanent field operative. However, with time Despero's personality began to surface. Suffering from bouts of rage L-Ron was unable to maintain total control of Despero's body and subsequently killed on two separate occasions. L-Ron was then called to pay for his crimes in front of a galactic court. While the Task Force were travelling to the court, their ship was attacked and L-Ron's team mate, Mystek, fell out of the ship to her death. L-Ron managed to eventually escape his trial and fled, remaining at large.

L-Ron resurfaced on Earth in Leesburg where he fought with Supergirl. L-Ron at this stage had little control over Despero and fought the heroine to a stand still. He was eventually beaten and his personality was separated from the unconscious Despero. Nothing was heard from L-Ron for a long time during which he seemingly rebuilt his old body. However, not finding an avenue to ploy his remarkable administrative abilities, L-Ron fell on hard times and was forced to seek employment at Big Belly Burgers. It was here that Maxwell Lord managed to track him down again and persuade him to help him start his new super team, the Superbuddies. This was a team that was envisioned to help the general public with smaller tasks and was made of a number of Max's previous League members. L-Ron thrived in his roll as administrative assistant, going back to infuriating and ridiculing his employer on a regular basis. After the team were captured by Roulette, they returned to find that Lord Manga Kahn had returned to Earth to barter with Max for ownership of L-Ron. Manga Kahn offered the former Green Lantern G'nort as exchange for L-Ron but was refused. Max and Sue Dibny managed to trick Manga Kahn into surrendering any claim he had to L-Ron much to the robots delight. It transpired that Manga Kahn was infatuated with L-Ron and had even built a sister robot, J-Lo, as an attempt to replace the little droid. With Magna Kahn's defeat the Superbuddies seemed to take a well earned rest and L-Ron went back to bullying and ridiculing his boss as often as possible

L-Ron is a robot that is capable of translating languages, storing vast amounts of information, analysing information and designing sophisticated inventions. He also has a biting wit. When he inhabited the body of Despero he had enormous super strength and endurance as well as the ability to shoot concussive beams from his third eye and a large degree of telepathy.

Sweet. I was wondering when you'd do L-Ron. So I'm guessing Max or Lord Khan are next.

Khaaaaaaaan!

Wasn't the JLTF part of the JLI?

Well yes. But no.

It's a seperate team in a sense. The original JLI (Max's baby) was split up following his return to health. The JLTF along with the JLA and the EJ guys were all splinters within the new JLI.

Or at least that is how I understood it. Either way, he was members of two distinct teams in two differing roles. He was truly a JLI member unlike a lot of the JLA members as he worked for the JLI. I'm just confusing myself now.

And Kahn might be done if you're a good boy.

Max is waiting on a decent appearence list to emerge. I'm slowly compiling my own from various sources.
