Last week, Comixfan explored the Top Ten Wildstorm Teams (http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/forums/showthread.php?t=40867), the collection of collectives that most appealed to our staff. However, no chain is stronger than its weakest link, and every team is merely the assemblage of individuals, so the time now comes to better characterize the characters themselves. Of course, Wildstorm has no shortage of the notable and note-worthy, from sentient pop songs to sentient city ships, and even some characters who are more humanoid in appearance... but which are truly the best?
The staff of Comixfan has searched the world (or, at least, their back issues), hoping to discover the Top Ten Wildstorm Characters, in this second of our trilogy of lists, rehashing Wildstorm history in numerically-arranged entries. These are the characters who exemplified the regularly changing face of their universe, with some changing with the times, and others defining their era. As with our last list, only those characters native to the core Wildstorm Universe were under consideration, so Desolation Jones and Tom Strong, while well-regarded, were excluded... at least, this time around. Still, this garden of Lee proved fertile ground to pluck from, as indicated by the quality of these chosen few.

First Appearance: StormWatch #1
Created by: Jim Lee and Brandon Choi
Jackson King is a survivor. He is a man of constant rebirth and reinvention, someone who has done it all, and lived to tell the tale. King began the fight against evil at a young age. As one of the original recruits for Stormwatch Prime, he led the team under the codename Battalion, an armor-clad telekinetic. Despite its resources, Stormwatch suffered low moments. When Skywatch fell under alien incursion, the space station was piloted into the sun to avert an attack on Earth. The team suffered casualties, though King, along with his wife and teammate Christine Trelane, survived the event. His endurance is a pattern that continues to hold true. King has been a consistent mainstay within Stormwatch. However, slowly but surely, he has transformed from a man of action into a man who pulls the strings behind the scenes, eventually ascending to Stormwatch's Weatherman position. Recently, government budget cuts have stymied King's ability to run Stormwatch at peak levels. Ever the survivor, King has improvised and formed Stormwatch PHD, an innovative, economical answer to the ever-present post-human threat. King's ability to weather a constantly changing status-quo has made him a natural-born winner. Though his title and position have changed, his mission to protect the Wildstorm Universe from hostile threats never ceases.

<img src="http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/images/covers/dc/wildstorm/jackhawk.gif" align=left hspace=10 alt="Jack Hawksmoor">#9 Jack Hawksmoor
First Appearance: StormWatch #37
Created by: Warren Ellis and Tom Raney
Imagine that you’re amongst friends. Imagine that it’s your birthday. Now imagine that aliens from the future abduct you and subject you to horrific tests and augmentations. Jack Hawksmoor was a multiple alien abductee from the age of five. Brutalised and implanted with futuristic technology, Hawksmoor was transformed into “The King of The Cities”, with the ability to plug himself into the nervous system of any major metropolis. This affords him superhuman strength, agility, and the ability to talk to and control the buildings and infrastructure of the city in question. The larger the city, the greater his powers become. The caveat, however, is that Jack cannot survive for long outside of an urban environment. Jack’s unique gifts led to Henry Bendix recruiting him into the covert StormWatch Black team. When StormWatch disbanded, Hawksmoor went on to become a member of The Authority, eventually leading the team, and even becoming de facto President of the USA when the team took control of the United Sates during Coup D’Etat. No other superpowered WildStorm character can say the same. Then again, neither is anyone else able to derive nutrition from air pollution, or has used Tokyo as a battle-suit to prevent a world extinction event whilst they were still a teenager. Despite the physical and emotional scars that he still carries from his childhood ordeal, Jack has reconciled with his alien legacy in order to fight for a finer world. Following the events of WorldStorm, Jack (along with the rest of The Authority) has been shifted sideways into our own reality. How a world that has never known superheroes reacts to man who can make cities dance like puppets is going to be interesting indeed.

<img src="http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/images/covers/dc/wildstorm/henrybendix10.jpg" align=left hspace=10 alt="Henry Bendix">#8 Henry Bendix (Weatherman One)
First Appearance: StormWatch #1
Created by: Jim Lee and Brandon Choi
Henry Bendix is a bad man. More to the point, he’s the smartest man on Earth, and being well aware of that fact has made him one of the most dangerous people alive. First appearing as the Weatherman of the UN’s Stormwatch initiative in the early days of Wildstorm/Image Comics, Bendix has played prominent roles in the development of the Authority, the Four Voyagers, and possibly even the Monarchy, through the careful manipulation of the number of super-powered beings known to the world. Possessing no superpowers other than his extraordinary intellect, this visual pastiche of Professor X was cultivated under later writer Warren Ellis (whose name you may have seen once or twice already on this list), into an über-conservative fascist dedicated to using the great power at his disposal to keep the world as it is. In the wake of several alternate reality jaunts, Bendix may have been raised under an abusive father in Maladyville, Mississippi, but it is certain that he joined the US Government’s first official superhero team/Daemonite deterrent Team One as the operator of the high-tech Think Tank. It was during this time that Bendix met the embodiment of death, Rose Tattoo, an anti-Jenny Sparks type, and made her his consort by “embracing her kiss.” He has since gone on to survive death in its myriad forms, and orchestrate the failure of the Authority’s Revolution, further cementing his place on this list.

<img src="http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/images/covers/dc/wildstorm/carver.gif" align=left hspace=10 alt="Holden Carver">#7 Holden Carver
First Appearance: Point Blank #4
Created by: Ed Brubaker and Colin Wilson
It is said that you can only look into the abyss for so long before it looks back into you. Holden Carver is a character who is living (on paper, at least) proof of that. An undercover agent with I.O. sent by John Lynch to infiltrate the organization of master manipulator Tao, Holden was pulled deeper and deeper into Tao’s organization, especially after Lynch was placed in a coma, and could not call Holden back in from the cold. Sleeper investigates the world of villains and spies better than practically any other series, and through Holden's eyes we see this aspect of the Wildstorm Universe laid bare. Throughout the run of Sleeper, Holden made choices, both good and evil, to survive with both his life and sanity intact. By the end, Holden makes his choice and lives with it. What makes Holden such a fascinating character is the fact that he really treads that line between good and evil. Vigilantes might act in ways unbecoming of a hero, but they are still “good guys.” Many of Holden’s actions are definitely along the dark side, but he is also able to perform acts of good. He is as flawed and real as a character can get, and, by the end of his story, the reader sees that while he might not be a shining bastion of heroism, his choices lead him to find some small peace in a dark world.

<img src="http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/images/covers/dc/wildstorm/lynch.gif" align=left hspace=10 alt="Lynch">#6 John Lynch
First Appearance: WildCATS #1
Created by: Jim Lee and Brandon Choi
In naming the most centric and prominent characters of Wildstorm, John Lynch really cannot be missed. Lynch is one of few Wildstorm characters whose long-term development has been displayed 'on page' in a variety of titles. His on-going problematic involvement with International Operations began when he appeared as the memorable 'TopKick' in Team 7. Even then, Lynch displayed his edgy qualities of astute leadership, although also underlying moments of contradicting paranoia and mental disorder - traits which become associated with prolonged usage of his telekinesis. Lynch later found himself at odds with an unscrupulous I.O., influencing the tense development of Gen13, with Lynch acting as an unpredictable mentor. Lynch's complex development culminated in the recreation of I.O., with a direction designed at targeting Tao and his Syndicate. However, Sleeper particularly illustrated Lynch's subsequent physical and emotional conflicts - shot in the head and left in a coma, Lynch recovered, but was left to deal with the turmoil over Holden Carver's vegetative state. The poignant conclusions at the end of season 2 shed new light on Lynch's attitude: a brusque man with buried humanist beliefs, who had suffered innumerable hardening experiences. The recent Worldstorm has left the status of John Lynch as 'unknown' - last seen as the head of I.O. before the event, he has now appeared as a seemingly ret-conned version in the new Gen13. Time will tell if this Lynch has the sheer personal complexity that he once possessed.

<img src="http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/images/covers/dc/wildstorm/tao.jpg" align=left hspace=10 alt="T.A.O."> #5 T.A.O. (Tactical Augmented Organism)
First Appearance: WildCATS #21
Created by: Alan Moore and Travis Charest
T.A.O (Tactical Augmented Organism), is the bastard child of I.O.s Optigen Labs, created to be the supreme form of intelligence in the WSU. With no visible powers to speak of, speech would be all that he needed, turning the concept of manipulation into an art form. After a brief stint as a member of Savant's WildCATS, Tao discovered the existence of the Secret Monarchy - a group of secret organizations that manipulated the world behind the scenes. Powerhungry, Tao soon infiltrated the organization, only to discover that the Secret Monarchy's members were weak and flawed; in his opinion, unworthy of ruling humanity. Tao then established his own secret organization, the Syndicate, while also joining the Secret Monarchy, where he gained influence, and manipulated its members against each other. Still hell bent on complete domination over his opponents, Tao waged war on John Lynch and I.O.... but this was merely the tip of his plans. Not content with merely crippling Lynch and I.O., Tao's next move would be seen as a clear message that no one is above him or his manipulations. Tao destabilised the US Government, by manipulating them into launching a device into the Bleed that would become unstable, killing millions through a complex chain of events and setting Coup D'état of The Authority into motion. For this act alone, Tao had now established himself as a global player, and, thus, had thrown himself headlong into the major league of WS villains.

<img src="http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/images/covers/dc/wildstorm/colecash10.jpg" align=left hspace=10 alt="Cole Cash"></a>#4 Cole Cash (Grifter)
First Appearance: WildCATS #1
Created by: Jim Lee and Brandon Choi
Mercenary, con man, and womanizer... all in all, qualities benefiting an uncommon criminal, but Cole Cash is every bit the hero. The Templeton 'Face Man' Peck to the WildCATS's A-Team, Grifter lacks the plasma blasts and liquid metal claws of his compatriots, but more than makes up for any deficiencies with his uncanny aim and sarcastic charm. Once the Wolverine of Wildstorm, Grifter found time for his own solo series, while still appearing alongside the other WildCATS, and regularly guest-starring in the multitude of titles populated by his former Team 7 comrades, from Wetworks to Deathblow. His job titles are as varied as his appearance list, moving from occasionally loyal soldier to high-priced hired gun to world-saving hero to accomplished alcoholic, and repeating as needed (granted, recurring most often as the boozehound). From his debut in the very first issue of the very first Wildstorm series, Grifter has remained the only WildCAT to serve with every incarnation of the squad, facing down alien overlords and Agent Oranges with style. Cocky to a fault, Cole Cash is truly the best there is at what he does... as he is well aware.

<img src="http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/images/covers/dc/wildstorm/jacksm.gif" align=left hspace=10 alt="Jack Marlowe">#3 Jack Marlowe (Spartan)
First Appearance: WildCATS #1
Created by: Jim Lee and Brandon Choi
Spartan. Hadrian. John Colt. Jack Marlowe. This child of the technological nightmare that was the early 1990s sci-fi comics landscape became the mouthpiece of creators such as Alan Moore, Joe Casey, and Grant Morrison, transforming him into the preeminent super-powered public figure of the pre, and, it would seem, post-Worldstorm world. Spartan is all that exemplifies the Wildstorm universe, being the original field leader of the Wildcats, a child of Kaizen Gamorra’s super-technology, and (depending of which revision you understand) a reincarnated member of Team One. Having gone from being housed in nearly disposable android bodies to having power comparable to Mr. Majestic, Hadrian has been shown to have the potential to become God itself. After a mediocre superhero career, he was charged by the ascending Lord Emp with the mission to truly change the world, and was given the Halo Corporation as the means to do just that. As Jack Marlowe, the former Spartan Series Bodyguard has taken his Otherworldly resources along with his big, beautiful, positronic brain and turned the world on its ear by providing renewable energy and attempting to implement it across the economic spectrum. After remaining neutral during the Authority’s Coup d'état and subsequent Revolution, Spartan has continued on his path to global enlightenment, rediscovering his love of Covert Action Teams and the companionship of stripper turned superhero Priscilla “Voodoo” Kitaen along the way.

<img src="http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/images/covers/dc/wildstorm/jennysparks.gif" align=left hspace=10 alt="Jenny Sparks"> #2 Jenny Sparks (The Spirit of the 20th Century)
First Appearance: StormWatch #33
Created by: Warren Ellis and Tom Raney
The Spirit of the 20th Century, Guardian of the era, and one of the Century Babies. Jenny’s 100-year reign began when she was born in London at the turn of the 19th Century. Her life would take many twists and turns; being instrumental in the path that would lead to WWII, seeking high adrenaline adventure in the States, exploring the Bleed and warding off alien invaders, becoming disenfranchised with society and the concept of ‘super-heroes’, and finally seeping into an alcohol-fuelled depression. It was clear that how Jenny felt was reflected upon society, and thus she shaped the world according to her own mental well-being. Welding full control over all forms of electricity, Sparks was soon drafted into leading one of Henry Bendix's revamped StormWatch squads, with the promise of bringing about real change by attacking the root of the problem, rather than its many appendages. Jenny agreed, but promised to kill Bendix if he didn’t fulfill on his word; a promise Jenny would later keep. With the demise of the StormWatch programme, and the world still needing guardians, so Jenny, in the remaining year of the 20th century, set about forming a higher Authority, one that wouldn’t answer to anyone and would bring about a finer world... whether we wanted it or not. In short, Jenny does what she does for the best interests and survival of mankind. Get in her way though, and she’ll crush you without a second thought... Just ask God... Oh, wait, you can't; she killed God for doing just that, shortly before her own death. Her actual appearance in the WSU might have been fleeting, but like all great icons, even in death, she’ll outlive us all.

<img src="http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/images/covers/dc/wildstorm/elijahhead.jpg" align=left hspace=10 alt="Elijah Snow">#1 Elijah Snow
First Appearance: Planetary Preview (Gen13 #33, C-23 #6)
Created by: Warren Ellis and John Cassaday
A century old with the tall tales to prove it, Elijah Snow is the renaissance man of the Wildstorm universe. Clad in his trademark tailored white suits (an angelic emblem that he's one of the good guys), he is a man fallen and a man reborn, a lover and a fighter. At heart, Snow is an adventurer, a curator who sees the world as an uncatalogued museum, a big kid who wants to unearth its secrets with his bare hands. In creating the Planetary Foundation to record the secret history of the 20th century, Snow proves he's the ultimate humanitarian, sharing his knowledge to aid the common man, placing the needs of the world above his own. Though the adversarial Four stripped Snow of his memory, he later reclaimed it, and in the process uncovered his true purpose as a Century Baby on Earth: he's here to save things. The clues were always there. As author of the Planetary Guides, Snow saved previously unrecorded history for the benefit of mankind. He also saved the orphaned Drummer and Jakita Wagner, taking on yet another role – that of surrogate father. It is a part that Snow will continue to play. As a Century Baby assigned to the 20th century, his life didn't end when the century expired. Perhaps Snow's ultimate purpose has yet to be served? In recovering his identity, and finally discovering his life's purpose, Snow shows us that, in knowing thyself, all demons can be conquered, including his obsession with the treacherous Four. A man with a cold hand but a warm heart, the master of heat subtraction shows a level of compassion rare amongst even the greatest of heroes. Elijah Snow is Wildstorm's iconic father figure and savior, teaching tolerance in accepting the myriad strangeness of the world, while understanding how best to keep it that way.
<center><hr width=75%></center>
That concludes our look at the Top Ten Wildstorm Characters, and while being a Century Baby might held with your longevity, these ten stood out by taking their readers on an emotional journey as they play guide to their world. Of course, Jim Lee deserves most of the credit for founding this particular playground, but later creators such as Ellis and Brubaker have clearly left an impression, as indicated by the distribution of our top ten. As for us, we have almost reached the end of our examination of this imprint, so visit again next week for our final storied look at Wildstorm history.

A pretty interesting list, I must say. The most obvious surprise is the exclusion of Midnighter, who is a huge fan favorite.
Looks like he plays shotgun to Grifter in the "badass" department, after all. They've both had great writers writing them, but I would agree with Grifter's inclusion over Midnighter based on Casey's interpretation in Wildcats 3.0 alone. The character really came alive there, and in Wildcats Vol. 2, as well.
I also like the surprise inclusion of Hawksmoor over Midnighter, as well. There is a huge depth to the character that I think most fans miss. It's nice to see him get some recognition.
Holden Carver and TAO's inclusion is largely due to their role in Sleeper, and it's great to see Brubaker make such a strong impression on readers with competition like Ellis.
Another surprise is that Spartan was placed higher than Grifter. I understand the appeal of both, but it surprises me a little that the more thoughtful character beat out the more visually and emotionally dynamic character.
Though I can see how these 10 made the cut, I personally would have included the Drummer at No. 10 or Honorable Mention. Though not a battler and kind of a whipping boy, he's totally original in concept with a great origin, and is such a gift of a character.
Speaking of which, the No. 1 character in Wildstorm is correct.
Is there anyone you guys out there feel should have been included, and why?

as much as I like the character, he doesn’t really stand out for anything other than being a pastiche of Batman.. oh, and he’s gay.

Never really taken to this character.. I dunno, it just feels as though we have to like him because he’s ‘cool’! I’m not really a fan of characters that come off like that.

Hawksmoor is truly an original and unique character. I mean.. how many people can control the urban environment? I’d have been more shocked has he not made the top-ten.

Lets not get confused over this. If this were just Spartan, then he wouldn’t have even made the top-ten, I don’t think. This vote is purely for Jack. And as Jack I found the character infinitely more interesting to watch that his previous incarnation, or Grifter.
Though I can see how these 10 made the cut, I personally would have included the Drummer at No. 10 or Honorable Mention. Though battle ready and kind of a whipping boy, he's totally original with a great origin, and is such a gift of a character.
Not really a fan of ‘honourable mentions’ if I where, then Engineer of the Authority… who for me has emerged more as a voice for reason within the usual ‘hit first, think later’ actions.
Is there anyone you guys out there feel should have been included, and why?
Engineer – as stated above.
Ladytron – Love the character, the fact GM is using her is the main reason I’ll cope with Lee’s sheer unprofessional attitude to how he produces comics.
Rose Tattoo – I know she hasn’t done much, but I just love the character for some reason.

Title : Re: COMIXFAN PRESENTS... THE TOP TEN WILDSTORM CHARACTERS
Omg no Backlash or Deathblow? :bawl:
The core titles definately got more representation. I think Deathblow is a fine character. He'd probably be top 20 easily. He's still too new to me to be higher. I think for villains, Randall Dowling of the Four (Planetary) could have been higher, if he had more page time. While I don't think many people voted for John Stone (also of Planetary), I like the character a lot.
as much as I like the character, he doesn’t really stand out for anything other than being a pastiche of Batman.. oh, and he’s gay.
Midnighter is as much a pastiche of Batman as Grifter is of Wolverine -- which is to say only in the beginning. Both characters have evolved well past that, at this point. Middy's mask does still have that Batman feel, but aside from that I wouldn't compare them. Handled correctly, Midnighter is a brutal character with few morals, and a much shorter fuse.
As it was, Midnighter just missed the list at No. 11.
Never really taken to this character.. I dunno, it just feels as though we have to like him because he’s ‘cool’! I’m not really a fan of characters that come off like that.
I think only Lee and Choi handled Grifter that way in the beginning, but I thought Lobdell and Casey really added a lot more dimension to him than just being cool. Casey, in particular, really fleshed out his character by taking away his legs. Then we got to see him more as a mentor figure instead of the action man. Very effective. I went from mildly liking the character to becoming a fan of Grifter under Casey. Unfortunately, it seems Lee and Morrison have started off with the "cool" Grifter you mention in the first issue of Wildcats v4. But who knows what side of Grifter we'll see under Morrison's pen over time? I look forward to it.
Hawksmoor is truly an original and unique character. I mean.. how many people can control the urban environment? I’d have been more shocked has he not made the top-ten.
Well, Hawksmoor is an Ellis creation, so originality goes hand in hand.:worthy: Jack is my favorite Authority member, hands down. He's one of Ellis' finest creations. And you gotta love the wicked power and odd but cool look of treads on bare feet, while wearing a blazer.
Lets not get confused over this. If this were just Spartan, then he wouldn’t have even made the top-ten, I don’t think. This vote is purely for Jack. And as Jack I found the character infinitely more interesting to watch that his previous incarnation, or Grifter.
You're right, of course. Spartan was a cipher. Jack Marlowe, OTOH, is brilliant. Casey did a fine job revamping the character. Many folks love Wildcats 3.0, and the brand building, if I may, of Jack Marlowe is the main reason. Casey really struck gold here, so I'll go with you. I can see how Jack Marlowe, even over a short period of time, usurps Grifter by just a nod. But I still like Grifter.
Not really a fan of ‘honourable mentions’ if I where, then Engineer of the Authority… who for me has emerged more as a voice for reason within the usual ‘hit first, think later’ actions.
Brubaker did a great job with Angie during Authority: Revolution. I really took to her in that story. But, overall, she doesn't really do it for me, largely because her character is really omnipotent but is played down until things get tight. Then she reveals her true nature -- which is that she's a large deus ex machina, as she was at the end of Revolution. If someone handles her as being powerful, yet still a bit more vulnerable, I'll bite.
Besides Drummer, I'd probably add Agent Wax at the No. 10 spot. Agent Wax was a sublime character, and I hope the writers don't ignore him with the new reboot. Jackson King is too important a figure in the WS universe to remove, but I'd bump him up to No. 9, and remove TAO or Carver.

What's weird is that Jackson King probably made the list 90% because of The Monarchy.
I still think Captain Bitterness should be #1 though.
I like that Tao is the only villain on the list. He is the only truely elite villain in the WSU.

I still haven't read Sleeper yet, so TAO and Carver are still relative unknowns to me. :shame:
He was a supprot character from Adam Warren's run. An ex-black ops soldier without arms or legs (But his power is to create replacement body parts of varying sizes, shapes and strengths.) who leads a group of Gen-Active teens who manage to accomplish even less with their life than the Gen-13 kids. A lot of the most memorable Gen-13 moments involve him.

Midnighter is as much a pastiche of Batman as Grifter is of Wolverine –
I always saw him more like gambit. The wolverine quota was filled with Warblade.
Remove TAO or Carver to include Agent Wax? :hellno: Wax was interesting, but only that! He didn’t make an impact on the WSU to any extent, and certainly not to the degree the others on this list have. Most of these characters appear, or are reference in other titles, so their significance is greater.
I wouldn't have a problem with Santini, but, he just isn't really top 10 material IMO.
agreed. when i think of characters who automatically standout from the WSU, Santini isnt one of them. as much as i enjoyed the character, he isnt one of the top-ten. although, as a character i dont really care for Jackson either.

Thank you Gnosis!
I nominated Santini and voted for him but no one shared my view. I think they were afraid we might actually leave out a character from Planetary...
Bah - I liked Santini, or Jukko...
Jenny Sparks - yep
Tao - never liked him. :frust:
Elijah Snow - oh yes, oh yes, the best of the best of the best... :worthy:
Jackson King - never really cared about him. :frust:
Henry Bendix - yep :worthy:
Jack Marlowe: still think they should have done more with 3.0 :frust:
Cole Cash: bah. I want a thinking man's superhero. I don't like the midnighter either.
John Lynch: humm, maybe :frust:
Holden Carver: Yep :worthy:
Jack Hawksmoor: Jack just got on my nerves, after Morrison got involved.
Just my two cents. :dunce:

Oh I never expected Santini to make the final cut, but I am glad he was apparently considered at least by someone. On;y one I could see being taken off that list is Lynch, but I have only ever run into him in Sleeper so I don't know the full impact he has had on the WSU.

In many ways, Grifter is rated highly due to being a perfect foil to Jack Marlowe (Who is arguably the greatest superhero ever.)
I really liked Santini as written by James Robinson, but not by anyone else...

Dead characters always get the shaft in lists. When a character is alive they are seen to have more potential since they could still influence events.

Title : Re: COMIXFAN PRESENTS... THE TOP TEN WILDSTORM CHARACTERS
Why isn't Craven listed? He influenced every aspect of the WSU when he was alive!!!!I certainly agree that Craven remains a significant force in the Wildstorm Universe, in a 'prime mover' sort of way... no Craven, no Team 7... no Team 7, and at least two of our ten might have followed different paths than the superheroic route.
However, in my opinion, Craven himself was never the most interesting character in the room, as unblinking evil and fear of your own mortality are rarely enough to justify top ten status. If anything, Gabriel (Craven's psychic lapdog) is the more deserving character, as he was at least occasionally morally conflicted by his master's commands... though he did usually execute those orders as ordered, that inner struggle seems more intriguing to me.
All in all, I am fine with our list... despite the fact that only four of my personal top ten appeared... and that Agent Wax was so very close to earning tenth place... and that I do not care at all for a few of our choices... but Grifter made the cut, so I have nothing to complain about. :)

<img src="http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/images/columns/comixfanpresents.gif" align=left border=0 hspace=10 alt="Comixfan Presents logo">The Top Ten Wildstorm Characters
By: Anthony Devlin, Raul Grau, David Henry, Stephanie Kay, Matt Lazorwitz, Mike Sangregorio, Kevin Williams
Editor: Raul Grau

Title : Re: COMIXFAN PRESENTS... THE TOP TEN WILDSTORM CHARACTERS

Nice list guys. I'm only just getting into Wildstorm (only read Authority and Planetary so far), so I'm still unfamiliar with a large number of characters, but still an interesting read.

What's weird is that Jackson King probably made the list 90% because of The Monarchy.
I still think Captain Bitterness should be #1 though.
I like that Tao is the only villain on the list. He is the only truely elite villain in the WSU.

Captain Who??? Gen13, right? I know you're a big fan, and they didn't get much love on this list, did they?
I still haven't read Sleeper yet, so TAO and Carver are still relative unknowns to me. :shame:

I nominated Santini and voted for him but no one shared my view. I think they were afraid we might actually leave out a character from Planetary...

I wouldn't have a problem with Santini, but, he just isn't really top 10 material IMO.

I always saw him more like gambit. The wolverine quota was filled with Warblade.

Yep. Took a few reads to get into it.. I felt the story got much stronger just before it got cancelled.
