Gideon was a member of the Externals, a group of supposedly immortal mutants. Gideon possessed the ability to scan the genetic templates of any superhuman being in his proximity and temporarily duplicate their superhuman powers. Gideon was a wealthy, ruthless, and powerful businessman who was owner and CEO of Ophrah Industries.

A long-time family friend of the DaCosta family, Gideon erroneously believed young Roberto, a.k.a. the New Mutant member known as Sunspot, to be the new immortal that the Externals had been looking for. When it was discovered that Cannonball was apparently the immortal, Gideon left Sunspot to be experimented on until he was rescued by X-Force.

Gideon was the first External to be killed by Selene when she went on a killing spree, draining him of his life energy.

I am very sure that Gidion did not appear in New Mutants 97. That was part of the X-tinction Agenda. It was New Mutants 98

Yup, it was #98. Also, Gideon can duplicate more than just genetic templates, since he can match the abilities of his personal battledrones and Night Thrasher's armor.

Might want to fix the phrasing of your first sentence, cause it makes it seem like the externals can scan and duplicate powers.

The entire point of posting the character bios here at X-Fan in this format is so that fans can respond with additions, corrections, updates, etc.

That's exactly what Monolith, Ares, and others have been doing, so how is that being "upstaged"?

"Formerly Sunspot and Toad" could be added to Allies, and Night Thrasher to Enemies. Also, do we know for sure that Selene killed Saul AFTER tossing Gideon off the roof, or are you speculating?

I don't believe it was shown that he could duplicate Night Thrasher's armor. Dwayne took his armor off and kicked his butt without it, so we never got a chance to see. The next day he showed Gideon up in the business world as well, taking a merger away from him. So, yeah. I'd say that qualifies as him being a major enemy.

Thanks Jon! Sorry I've been so MIA. If you or anyone else is interested in one thing I've been doing, pick up Vampirella Magazine #10, out in April. I've got an article in there.

Anyway, I have been kind of getting on a Handbook kick all of a sudden. And I'm wanting to put up impressive handbook-type entries on my own New Warriors site. I've still got a birthday present to go back-issue hunting to cash in, plus some birthday money to spend at this year's San Diego Comic-con. I'm hoping to get as much of them as I can get.
