Paige was one of the young mutants captured by the Phalanx, and after the Phalanx were defeated, Paige joined the rest of those young mutants in the Massachusett's Academy as Generation X, and was given the codename Husk. After many years with the team, including a relationship with fellow teammate Chamber, Husk left when the Academy was closed down and ended up being recruited by her former headmaster Banshee into his new militaristic organization called the X-Corps.Later, after the downfall of the X-Corps, Husk resided at the Xavier Institute, and became an X-Woman draw closer. On her first mission with the X-Men, Husk was mortally wounded by a pack of mutant werewolves. She was saved by Archangel's secondary mutation, which was blood with the ability to heal. Husk told Archangel that in her near-death state, she met his ex-lover Psylocke. Husk relayed Psylocke's message to Warren which was good-bye. Husk and Archangel became a couple some time later. In the belief that Husk might be a hacker called "Bean" who broadcasts about the plight of former mutants and the X-Men, some of the O*N*E* (Office of National Emergency) soldiers at Xavier's entered her room and took her computers. In retaliation, she used another computer to try to hack information on Colonel Reyes of O*N*E*.[NOTE]Uncanny X-Men #469[/NOTE] Husk helped her older brother, Cannonball, bring supplies to the tent-dwelling mutants at the Institute who were called "the 198". Husk is an omnimorph, possessing a transitional bodimorphing ability that alters the submolecular structure of her body underneath her skin, then allows her to shed her outer epidermis to reveal a new form with greater strength, speed, durability, or other new features.
