Eyes: Blue, sometimes look Green Hair: Reddish blonde Theresa Rourke is the daughter of Banshee, and inherited his gift of the ability to generate sound waves. When Theresa was born, her father was overseas on an Interpol mission. Her mother died shortly after her birth, and Theresa was taken by her "Uncle" Tom, who cared for her as if she was his own daughter, but never revealed her existence to her true father. Theresa spent a lot of time in boarding schools, and eventually found out about Tom`s criminal activities. For a time, she even joined him, but soon realized that it was very wrong and quit. Eventually, she was reunited with Banshee, and while the two are not especially close, they have a good relationship. Theresa joined X-Force after she aided the team against Black Tom and the Juggernaut during the attempted bombing of the World Trade Centre. Since then, Siryn has developed her fighting skills and use of her powers to the point where she became Field Leader of X-Force during Cable`s absence. Theresa also had a drinking problem back in high school which resurfaced during her time with X-Force. Thankfully, Warpath, who had long had a crush on Theresa, was able to help her through the ordeal. Siryn first met Deadpool when she and her father were tracking Black Tom. Since teaming up against her "uncle", she and Deadpool have kept in contact to the point where they are close friends. In an encounter with the New Hellions, Siryn had her vocal cords slashed by Feral causing her to lose her voice as well as her powers. Taking a leave of absence from the team, Theresa was adjusting slowly to life without her powers when she was possessed by the psychic entity known as Malice. To free her from possession, Deadpool took Siryn to the organization known as The Watchtower who not only freed her from Malice but also healed her vocal cords. More recently, Siryn joined Professor Xavier's X-Corporation in Paris and was involved in the clash with Weapon XII (Zona Cluster 6) from the renegade government project known as Weapon Plus. [New X-Men (1st series) # 128-130] Currently, Siryn works for Jamie Madrox (Multiple Man) and his detective agency, X-Factor Investigations. Not long ago, she learned that if she is completely calm, she can make humans adore her and do what she wants. All she has to do is modulate her speech a certain way. It's been stated that it works only on humans, but it is unknown if Siryn has tried and failed with extra-terrestrials. [B][X-Factor (3rd series) #1] She endured being brutally beaten by Damian Tryp, Jr. of Singularity Investigations (after he paralyzed her vocal cords with a dart to the neck). One of her legs was broken. She regained consciousness to find herself bound and gagged by a depowered and bitter mutant who was convinced that X-Factor and the X-Men were responsible for M-Day and intended to maim her if she didn't swear to put things back the way they were. She managed to work herself free and get in one scream that saved the depowered-but-not-powerless Rictor so he could save her. Multiple Man used his paramedic training to treat Siryn, who refused to go to a hospital. He also called in the keeps-a-low-profile Dr. Castillo who warned him, after she treated Theresa, that the guy who beat her knew just how hard and where to hit her for maximum -- but not permanent-- damage. Banshee died trying to save a plane, but Syrin has been denying her father’s death. Siryn is pregnant with Multiple Man's child. It was never stated that Siryn was possessed by Malice in that story. It was a mystery plot thread left dangling in favor of Counter X. Liefeld had no idea Siryn was possessed in her last appearance, so that subplot was not even mentioned in Wolverine #154-155.
Black Tom Cassidy is not Siryn's uncle. That is just a term of affection she uses with him. He is Banshee's cousin, so he and Siryn are first cousins, once removed. Terry was also seen in Deadpool #69, amidst the series of phone calls he made before confronting Black Swan. |

but the term for elders who are either cousins/brothers of your Parents are called uncles or aunts right? or is that only in effect where i live?
and can Syrin talk during flight? i've always found it strange... i mean she has to stop screaming to talk, and to stop screaming means she'll fall... |

The relationshipp between Black Tom has always confused me. One day they're brothers, the next cousins, the next second cousins!

Btw, did Siryn appoint herself Siryn? If she did, I'm wondering why she made that codename comment in nxm 128  |

being the Siryn expert let me clarify some things for you all.
1. Tom is her SECOND cousin. Tom is Sean's First cousin, making him Siryn's second. 2. Siryn calls him Uncle out of affection. 3. Siryn is the only one who can scream and talk at the same time. Banshee cannot. Her power is barely slightly different from Banshee's in that way. Otherwise it's pretty identical. She uses her in different ways than he does. There was a theory that she may have two vocal cords because of the fact that she can scream and talk at the same time. I would support this theory only because Banshee has had his powers far longer and cannot do both as she can. 4. I believe Marvel on their website had once said it was Malice that posessed her. Besides, the way she was posessed was very common of Malice. She inhabited jewelry, mostly necklaces and that's exactly how Siryn was posessed. I wish they would have cleared that one up for everyone. 5. I'm thinking Tom may have given her the name Siryn as an ode to her father without exactly letting it be known to her who her father was. |
4. Malice never actually inhabited jewelry. The "Malice choaker" was a psychic construct that materialized on someone's neck when she possessed them.

i agree it was never revealed to be malice in print, however all clues we have (albeit few) lead to that. the plot was basically dropped in the x books; i dont think it should be included in her bio, it was never proved/disproved, just dropped.

I've always loved Siryn, and really want her back on a X-team. She also needs a love interest- besides Deadpool/Agent X. She has great powers and development potential, so someone do something with her please!

Re: Siryn
Siryn's bio has been updated to include what happened to her in "X-Factor" v.3, #4 & 5. That was a ghastly situation she was in in #5!
|
Re: Siryn
Siryn's bio has been updated to include Dr. Castillo's warning about her injuries from "X-Factor" v.3, #6.

P.S.-Though yeah she does belong, imho, on an X-team other than X-Factor. |
