Dang, I will need to read this later, but as ever an extensive and brilliant err thing, you got here! Trish Tilby first appeared in X-Factor 7? I have that! I never new she hadn't appeared before that. This article is always really handy, especially for noticing things I didn't see in the first read or filling in continuity gaps I didn't know about. Thanks very much!

Absolutely excellent! Thanks for all the work. It helped me appreciate the issue even more. Didn't realize Jack of Hearts fought Jack of Spades until I saw it here. Kurt and George put so much into this and clearly had some fun.
The only minor correction I would suggest is that I imagine the Amazing Man who appears in the issue is Amazing Man II, grandson of the original, and a member of Extreme Justice. He made his first appearance in Justice League America # 86. |

Good work. Got two questions for you:
1) How were you able to tell the difference between Sowrdsman I and Swordsman II? Ditto between Hawkwoman I and Hawkwoman II? 2) Page 39, panel 4, where the Construct, Amazo and Despero are beating up on Thor, there are two smaller robots, with rounded heads, in the lower left corner. Who are they? |

"Page 11, Panel 7: Captain America's shield is composed of a nigh-indestructible alloy of steel and the rare metal Vibranium in the Marvel Universe."
I belive Cap A's shield is not made of a steel vibranium mix but of a adamantium and vibranium mix. A one of a kind endeavor in the Marvel U. Brian |

But what is the difference in costume between the two Swordsmen? Or between the first two Hawkwomen?

Once again, great work, people! These annotations helped me enjoy JlA vs Avengers even more than I already had. Thanks!
I think I found a mistake, tho. Page 41, panel 1: I don't think that's Gypsy, I think it's Maya from Justice League International. Note the flaming bow and arrows. I'll let you know if I notice anything else. Once again, thank you all!

the first swordsman had a moustache didn't he?
as for the hawkwomen, well one's got a different helmet and is noticeably bigger.

There was mention of Cap's shield being an adamantium/vibranium mix in an old OHOTMU (which was later used to reference a mention in canon), but it's in error seeing as Adamantium wasn't created until after Cap's shield.

Along with appearing in the plot of the original crossover, the Cosmic Egg appeared in the Infinity Crusade series. It was created by the Goddess who used 30 Cosmic Cubes from alternate universes to form the egg.
Page 48, Panel 3: The Cosmic Egg is a homage to the plot of the original incarnation of the JLA/Avengers crossover two decades ago. |

Jonberg, the mustache thing might be true, but in the first Swordsman appearance in issue # 4, we only see the back of his head, and in the second, I can't tell if the line on his face is a mustache or merely a closed mouth.
However, I did discover a difference which can be seen on-panel - the first Swordsman had regular super-hero flary-type gloves, while the second wore gauntlets of some sort. So the one on page 29 is Swordsman II, and the one on page 33 is Swordsman I. As for the Hawkwomen, can you elaborate regarding the helmets? The size issue is irrelevant because we never see them side-by-side in this series. But if there's a distinction between the helmets of the two, I'd appreciate your helping me out. Some errors noticed in the original annotation message: Page 31, panel 3: the person standing behind Aleta in the viewscreen is not Starhawk, it's Glenn Gamerron (DC). I also don't see Manhunter in that panel; if you're referring to the sliver of face in the viewscreen behind Captain America's left shoulder, I'm pretty sure that's Clint Barton as Goliath II. (a little hint from Kurt that Hawkeye hadn't died after all) |

Here's a few things I noticed:
-Page 7, panel 2: I don't think that's Sonar II's face in the globe, I think it's Krona's face (as Entropy; also seen in issue #1). -Page 22, panel 1: The General first appeared in Justice League, not Captain Atom (that was his human ID- and he's changed a LOT since then- if you're going to mention details like the Wasp's costume changes, you should mention this as well.) -Page 24, panel 6: Superman is in his "long haired" incarnation, that first appeared at the end of the Death (and Return) of Superman saga. -Page 30, panel 5: I think the Rocket Red 7 in this panel could really be Martian Manhunter. Didn't MM impersonate RR for a while? This might explain why the telepathic link disappeared as soon as RR got blasted (note MM is in the two previous panels- that might be him in panel 4, having timeshifted to when he impersonated Bloodwynd.) -Page 31, panel 3: Gilgamesh is in his 'Hero' incarnation, as seen during the 'Celestials Saga' in Thor. -Page 33, panel 2: Black Panther has time-shifted into another costume. -Page 33, panel 4: Quicksilver has also changed costumes (I think this one was from his own series.) -Page 33, panel 5: Black Widow also in another costume. -Page 33, panel 7: Isn't Nagan better known as Gorilla-Man of the Headmen? -Page 37, panel 6: Hyppolita is in her Wonder Woman 3 identity. -Page 41, panel 1: I mentioned this above, but it's better to repeat it here: That's Maya, not Gypsy. -Page 48, panel 3: The firts Cosmic Egg was mentioned in Galactus' origin story. I hope that helps. And once again, Thanks. Last edited by Sijo; Apr 23, 2004 at 12:05 pm. |
