Real Name: Shakti HaddadFirst Appearance: X-Men 2099 #1 Group Affiliation: X-Nation 2099, X-Men 2099 Known Relatives: Zail Haddad (father) Powers: None, formerly telepathy Seemingly without feeling, the mutant telepath known as Cerebra was forced to turn off her emotions to keep her sanity in the troubled world of the year 2099. After meeting the mutant activist named Xi'an Chi Xan, Cerebra began a new life as a founding member of the X-Men of 2099. Using her ability to detect mutant potential in others, Cerebra set out to look for potential recruits who might willing to join the fight against mutant oppression. Cerebra also possesses the ability to dampen an individual's motor functions by touch. After the X-Men established Halo City as a haven for mutants, Cerebra became the founder and mentor for the young group of mutants known as X-Nation. During the great flood, Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four - who had travelled to the 2099 future - created a robot to act as a gigantic computer resource for the survivors. Naming it Franklin after his son, the robot attempted to become friends with Cerebra by linking minds with her, but the incident left her crippled and without her powers. Cerebra has stated on different occasions that she is not a telepath; her powers are only sensing mutants and manipulating nervous systems.

She may not be a telepath in the "traditional" sense of the word, but her powers are still telepathically-based.

Actually, in X-Nation she started to develop some low level telepathy. In fact, in X-Nation #5, she sates "Nothing. No matter how far I reach out telepathically--"
That was due to bad writing and the editorial shake up that killed 2099 but it's there none the less.

Well sure...if Karma and Dani Moonstar can devolve into generic telepaths as New Mutants: Truth or Death and X-Force suggested, why not Shakti too? Grrrr....

Wouldn't her ability be classed as psionic? With telepathy being just one of a vast array of psionic abilities.
