Powers: As an avatar for the Phoenix Force, Rachel has the ability to exist in any environment without harm, project force bolts of incalculable power and create force fields. She also possesses the innate powers of telepathic abilities, including illusion-casting; her link with the Phoenix force gives her vast psionic ability to manipulate time, space, matter, and energy for virtually any purpose.

In our reality, Rachel Summers comes from an alternate future where she was tortured and brainwashed in a prison. Following extensive behavior modification, she became a mutant hound, using her psionic powers to hunt down other mutants for the authorities, who would kill or imprison them. She appeared in our present day after Kitty Pryde hypnotized Summers into using her psionic powers to tap into the Phoenix Force and send herself back in time in hopes of altering their reality's history. She would be found by the modern day X-Men and join their ranks before becoming a member of the Britain based mutant team called Excalibur.

Rachel Summers (Legacy) Appearances: Exiles #21-22 A member of the Avengers, Earth's mightiest and only super heroes on a world overrun with Vi-Locks. She is a valuable resource as the world has come to rely on psychics to relay messages because the Vi-Locks are tapped into radio waves, phones, modems, and satellites. Because Rachel is the Avengers' most powerful telepath, she is recruited by Morph to contact the Asgardians in a desperate attempt to help rid the world of the Warlock Virus. After several days of effort, the Aesir finally hear Rachel's cry for aid and Henry Pym is able to create a vaccine using blood from the Gods of Asgard.
