HOUSE OF M WEEK 10 ROUNDUP

This week, Doom makes his move to dethrone Lord Magnus and the House of M, Dr. Henry Pym reveals his invention that could spell disaster for the world's mutants, and King Brian is haunted by visions of another reality.

Fantastic Four: House of M #2

• Victor Von Doom reminisces on how he formed the Fearsome Four -- excavating a monstrous Ben Grimm (The It), the only survivor of a space mission disaster, and then using science and sorcery to transform himself, his wife Valeria Von Doom (Invincible Woman), and his son Kristoff Von Doom (The Inhuman Torch).
• Lord Magnus contacts Doom and asks him to find a suitable alternate dimension wherein he could dispose of his enemies. For Lord Magnus, it is an order. For Doom, it is a request. The animosity between the two is disguised well by both parties.
• Doom takes his Fearsome Four into another dimension, killing all its inhabitants. He then reveals to his teammates that he has found this world where the laws of science and sorcery give him a favourable advantage over Lord Magnus as a trap to overthrow the House of M and reign over Earth himself.
• Lord Magnus makes a surprise visit to Latveria with his daughter Princess Lorna and son Prince Pietro (Quicksilver). Quicksilver suspects a trap, but Magnus is confident of his own power. The Fearsome Four invite the House of M Royals to the other dimension.

Iron Man: House of M #2

• A news group interrupts Tony Stark's fight with the Sentinels. They dub the figure in the suit of armour "Iron Man." The public is enthralled with the mysterious identity of this Iron Man.
• A House of M envoy meets with Tony Stark to get the licensing rights of Dr. Henry McCoy and Forge's "Vision Project" technology. The envoy then confides in Stark that they think the human terrorist Iron man is the arena fighter named Johnny Storm, and suggest he be eliminated.
• Johnny comes to Tony, telling him that he knows Tony is Iron Man, and that he wants to join the fight against the House of M oppression. They find Dr. Henry Pym in a human concentration camp and come to his rescue. During a skirmish with mutants and Sentinels, Dr. Pym unleashes his biological weapon, the gene bomb, which finds the mutant genome and triggers genetic meltdown, killing them.

Uncanny X-Men #463

• The "real" world's Marvel Girl and Psylocke are transported to the House of M Universe, and "turn" into their counterparts, Lady Rachel and Princess Elisabeth of England's House of Braddock.
• King Brian's dreams is invaded by visions of Roma, Saturnyne, and Jamie Braddock of Otherworld. When Lady Courtney Ross comes to visit, he sees only Saturnyne and attacks her. His subjects are able to contain the situation.
• Agents of the House of M called the Marauders hunt down two wanted figures, Juggernaut and Nocturne, in King Brian's territory, which becomes a political situation.

"House of WHat if .. I mean ( M)"...WHat if I did not want to read House of M? ALl my regular MARVEL TITLES were interrupted, I know there's a PREVIOUSLY ON... page in the comics , but , for Example in Academy X: It totally disrupted the ongoing LINEAR storyline... Heck I still bought , and I will finish my run, but I just hadda say it.

too bad that the House of M is just a variation of the 616 "main universe". Like AOA, House of M would be cool universe rich in stories and characters to explore.

I know people have problems with the "House of What If," But I really enjoyed all these titles this week. Heck, any time you get AD and CC on a Captian Brittan story, you got something good going on. The convoluted nature of other world is well suited to CC's wordy style and AD's out of this world artwork.

That said, I also enjoyed Iron Man and Fantastic Four. I don't normally get these titles, but these stories are well done and both are set up with interesting cliffhangers.

It looks like Magneto doesn't have things as under controll as he thinks.

So I'm enjoying the ride on the House of M. Certianly, there have been less interesting projects out of Marvel. At least I feel like I'm getting my money's worth. It's only too bad that it has to be the end of the creative team's run on New X Men Accademy X. Not only are they leaving, they get kicked around by Bendis on their way out. This may be unfair, but that whole thing has been a bitter pill for me, being a fan.

HoM has been pretty good so far. The main series is interesting enough so far even if little happens each issue and I'm paying for 8 of them. Iron man is pretty good and has a great plot starting. Uncanny has been exceptionally good but that could be because Psylockes a mian charachter. House of M Cable and Deadpool was ok, but confiused me a bit. I loved HoM Sinister though, very funny. I haven't picked up Fantastic Four yet but plan to. Any recommendations?

I'm sorry, but these solicitations make me want to gag. Lord Magnus...King Brian...what is this, The History Channel? Is it really interesting to read about superheroes-as-medieval-royalty? Maybe it would be if some of the writers explored the superhero/royalty parallel a la Kingdom Come, but no one has, and no one will.

I think the reason why we're getting yet another alternate reality is because there's more money in it. Not only can you makes some moola off the comics but you can also produce a toyline (with the 150th version of Wolverine--this time, with 5' clock shadow!), posters, a card game, etc. Plus, like AOA, you can revisit the "world" down the road and make even more money.

I suppose I'm being very cynical here but we live in cynical times. I'm a Marvel man by heart, but DC's Crisis is more interesting than this. Unlike HoM, which seems to be all BMB, all the time, Crisis is more of a collaborative effort, which often yields richer results.

Too Be Honest, My Opinion of House Of M, is great idea. Not so great executed. Im buying the comics but...Hmmm. I LOVE Fantastic Four House of M, and seeing Captain Britain Again makes me happy.

Otherwise...Not So Much
