Among other things in that issue, Karma left the New Mutants in order to try to find her siblings. Even if the NMs keep to their decision not to go after her, I hope her leaving at least gets mentioned in NMF. Actually I'd like CC to bring her back, with Leong and Nga. I think it could be fun to have those 2 kids running around the school.
The only way anything's going to happen is with reader support -- and in the case of books like NMF that means talking to your local comics retailers before they place initial orders for the series. Fact is, NMF is a 5 issue mini-series. By the time Marvel has the slightest idea about sales, we're done -- much as what happened with geNext. If you want this to work in the marketplace, you have to be aggressively proactive. Editorial's basically looking at this as a one-shot and out project; only you readers can alter that dynamic, and that means being proactive, not reactive.

Just a limited series? Rats! Is there anybody in particular who should be addressed? Or do we start with Joe Q and work our way through all the X-Editors?

Where can I write in to Marvel to support New Mutants and making New Mutants Forever an ongoing? I'm not saying NM: Forever has to last forever, but five issues isn't near enough. Now days that barely makes one story. I need to read at least twelve preferably twenty-four. Who am I kidding, I need another hundred?

I've always preferred the New Mutants to the X-Men. Marvel needs to be aware that there are those of us clammering for more New Mutants. I will be glad to write a letter and mail it in the old fashion way. I hope the rest of you will join me.

Question Re: New Mutants Forever

To CC.....

Within the upcoming NMF Mini.....I was just wondering whether or not the NM will be encountering other young heroes within the mini.....

And I'm not just talking about the original Hellions (in which they were excellent rivals/enemies for the NM at the time; but other familiar super-youths that they've met before.....

That's a good question. as Marty said, they dealt, Hellions aside, with Cloak and Dagger. Not even Power Pack!

At that time, there were only those two groups and the kids with X-Factor, AFAIK.

Besides, I think after seeing twice Cloak and Dagger (much as I like them), I think it's not too much story to tell in their interaction.

I personally want to see more of Magik, and I'd love to see the Hellions, but we must keep our fingers crossed for the success of the limited.

Actually they met Powerpack multiple times over in the Powerpack series and Rom in an annual for his series. If you missed those issues you should pick them up. I actually think Louise Simonson did better with the New Mutants as guest stars in Powerpack than she did for most of the time she wrote the New Mutants. Bill Mantalo also wrote the X-Men, Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and New Mutants extremely well in Rom.

It was. I just wish Kitty haters would quit bringing up her use of the N-word out of context.

I don't recall her saying it that issue, but I do remember it in UNCANNY #196.

I am REALLY hoping that since this sounds like it'll be a truer continuation of where CC wanted to go than X-MEN FOREVER seems to be, he will be able to re-capture magik!

This book definitely has my support!!!

....Actually, Kitty did say the N-word within the X-MEN: GOD LOVES, MAN KILLS GN; in which she was pointing out how offensive certain words are to people (IOW, she was angrily pointing out to Stevie Hunter {one of the few human allies of the X-Men} that the word "mutie" was insulting to her in the same context that Stevie being called the N-word was})....

....And the GN is one of the best (from Marvel) that explores what the Writer was emphatizing upon the X-Men were always dealing with ......

... as difficult as it is to see any such word in print, the context of this usage is bold and justified. It firmly illustates a highly important point.

Along with the derogatory term she used for herself.

Indeed. I'm just saying that that Kitty/CC haters take the times she uses it out of context.

I'm seen arguments saying that Shadowcat is a racist because of those panels.

Completely the opposite of the point of the speech. Such observations are simply ignorant.

Because writers never ever let her fail in anything she attempts.... Writers and fans refuse to let anything seriously damaging befall her (as in something she would have to forever struggle with to overcome)... I detest perfect heroes without flaws... and Kitty Pryde is never written with any, and has never really had to suffer or struggle with any real hardship... It always gets fixed for her or by her. That and writers for some reason refuse to let her grow up... of course she can't grow up I guess until she falls flat on her face at least once.
