Really excited about this lineup and glad to see two of my favorites (Beast and Moon Knight) on the team.

Interesting team... I don't mind Nova being here (he definately deserves to join Justice and Firestar as an Avenger...) but I'm wondering how this will impact his rebuilding of the Nova Corps and his space obligations as Nova Prime. Its bad enough that we get Logan all over the planet with both the X-men and Avengers... Now Nova's going to be running back and forth between Earth and the rest of the universe.

Well Nova can move from place to place a lot faster than Wolverine can. Also if Hal Jordan or John Stewart can be part of the Green Lantern Corps and the Justice League I don't see why Nova can't do the same thing (although neither Hal nor John are as involved on the organizational side of their Corps as Rich is with his.)

He definitely looks like Steve Rogers to me.

And with Brubaker writing, that's not a surprise.

I find I rather like this lineup of Avengers. Not a Drunken Hobbit, Mustard Boy, or Cage in sight...

The choice of Rogers for team leader is a good one. The fact that he wants to lead a secret team rather than one in the public eye kind of makes sense. And I can understand why Beast would want to be on a team like this. He will respect Steve in ways that he can't respect Scott right now. Also, he will be the brains of this team. I love the crazy science he brings to any book he's in. Valkyrie is the team powerhouse. It's good to have a woman play that role in an Avengers book. Bendis has Thor and Thing on his books which is fine too. Moon Knight? Not sure how that will play out. Nova? Love it. And War Machine? War Machine will no doubt get a big boost profile-wise from Iron Man 2. Played right, Rhodey could be kick-ass on this team. Can't wait for this book more than any of the other new Avengers books.

So what are people's thoughts on Steve's new costume? It kind of reminds me of the DC character Commander Steel's costume.

Also, for those who had an issue with Steve carrying a gun. Bru twittered that it's not a normal gun.
It's a high tech gun. So he's not gonna go around shooting people.

It looks like a tribute. But it is very modern and cool. He looks like he could step into Nick Fury's shoes (his old commander of SHIELD ones, that is). Brubaker won't discuss whether Rogers will hook up with SHIELD. Kind of hope he won't. I would prefer Fury to take back his rightful crown.

Fury regaining control of SHIELD may screw up what Hickman has going on with him in Secret Warriors, so I'm not sure if that will happen.

I kind of like the idea of Steve running SHIELD (at least for a while.) And the symbolism is too good to pass up.

With Brubaker writing and Deodato pencilling, I was already sold on this book, no matter who would be on it. Yes, even the Sentry.

That said; I still don't really like the idea of a secret team of Avengers.
With the crap that the Avengers have been through ever since Disassembled, to me it makes little sense to want to have a secret team.

I thought this was the start of the Heroic Age?
It hasn't even begun yet, and here we are with secrets held from others!

.....I understand what you're saying.....But I get the feeling that even with the HEROIC AGE, there won't be any situations that will always be dealt with in a positive manner....

....Nor it's not the first time for a "secret" team to be formed (as the earlier issues of AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE easily illustrated this example with the Shadow Initiative).....

....Still, let's see how things will be played out with this team of Avengers....

I don't mind the idea of a team of shadow Avengers, though I would think it odd if they were like the wetworks team or something. I can't see Beast signing up for something like that given he jsut ditched Cyclops for having his own secret kill squad.

My only nervousness about the whole 'secret' theme is the prospect of another X-Force shoot-to-kill policy. I'm tired of heroes tooling up and slicing n' dicing their enemies. It's the most repetitive and tiring modern comic book concept alongside zombies. But the fact that Steve's weapon is purportedly not deadly (according to Brubaker) gives me hope. It would be an epic failure to make Steve Rogers a killer. However, I do wonder at the inclusion of Moon Knight who has always struck me as a Punisher-style vigilante. I may be wrong, since I haven't read enough of that character to make a solid judgement. I think, though, that Steve is definitely not Scott Summers, and the inclusion of Beast suggests a more intellegent approach to secret operations than X-Force currently employ.

But I highly doubt that Seceret Avengers will be a wetworks team.

Moon Knight has been a Punisher-style vigilante in the past, and recently went further off the deep end than Frank has ever gone, but since the relaunch of his title he has been trying to resist the killing and maiming urges.

The Cup Of Joe panel at the con announced the last 3 memebers.

Sharon Carter. Black Widow. And Ant-Man. Not the good Ant-Man either, the T-Bolts one.

Here's the cover. And hmmm, considering the Ant-Man depicted.... maybe it'll hopefully be Scott Lang.

Oh so you mean the awesome Ant-Man. I'm guessing that isn't Scott Lang in the picture, but rather O'Grady wearing the old Ant-Man costume. And I still kinda like O'Grady and am glad to see he's not vanishing into limbo after Dark Reign. Plus Cap kinda owes him for his little assist in Reborn (and helping LUke Cage escape from the T-Bolts). Yes it was a bit of a hedging your bets/covering your #@$% move, but that's part of his character.

Hickman has said that Secret Warriors has a finite run, 30 issues IIRC. He said it was intended to run for 60 issues and that he knows how it ends.

Carter makes sense as Rogers love interest and an ex-SHIELD agent in her own right. Black Widow, super spy, makes even more sense. But Ant Man? I guess he can climb through keyholes and drainpipes. May come in useful. So it's 9 members. The team dynamics should be really interesting here.

....Somehow, if Marvel intended to bring back Scott Lang; then it would've been done during SECRET INVASION.......

.....Anyway, now those that "liked" O'Grady's Ant-Man are probably grateful that he's not on Luke Cage's team version of the T-Bolts (coming soon).....

I dunno, O'Grady did help save Luke Cage's life and they do share a special bond (I mean, how many other heroes have spent time inside Luke Cage's intestinal tract?)

Cage's version of the T-Bolts is awesome. Just a great cast. Cannot wait.

Glad Jeff Parker cleared the decks and formed his own cast.
