Marrow is a mutant who, due to the physical appearance of her mutant abilities, hid herself as a young girl in the sewers underneath New York City as a member of the Morlocks, a group of mutants who were also physically deformed. Marrow managed to survive the 'Morlock Massacre' by the Marauders and was later taken, as a young girl, to another dimension, dubbed "The Hill", by the mutant Mikhail Rasputin in order to survive the destruction of the Morlock Tunnels.

She first encountered the mutant soldier from the future, Cable, during one of her trips back from The Hill. Cable helped her perform the Morlock Ceremony of Light which allowed her to return home. [Cable #15]

Time passed quicker in the other dimension, and Marrow returned a few years later as a full-grown adult leading Gene Nation, a rebel faction of Morlocks who wanted revenge for the massacre.

Marrow's first mission was to capture the power-dampening young mutant known only as Leech and induct him into Gene Nation. However, Leech was being taken to the Massachusetts Academy by Emma Frost at the time, so Marrow was forced to capture the White Queen. After Leech was knocked unconscious, the White Queen's powers returned and she easily defeated Marrow. [Generation X #5-6]

Marrow and Gene Nation later kidnapped a subway car loaded with humans on the anniversary of the massacre, in order to kill a human for every Morlock that died that day. The humans were rescued, and Marrow battled the X-Man Storm. Marrow had attached the triggering device for a bomb to her heart, telling Storm that the only way to stop the bomb was to stop her heart. Storm, needing to end the battle, ripped Marrow's heart out of her chest. [Uncanny X-Men #325]

Later it was revealed that her mutant physiology had given her two hearts, so she was able to survive the encounter with Storm. She returned with Callisto to sabotage a concert being held by Lila Cheney. Their plan was foiled by Cable and Storm, and Marrow escaped. [Storm #4]

Marrow resurfaced in New York and aided the X-Man Iceman and the mutant Cecilia Reyes against Prime Sentinels during Operation: Zero Tolerance. Afterwards, at Callisto's behest, Marrow reluctantly joined the X-Men.

During the X-Men's adventure in an alternate dimension, Marrow was accidentally injured by Gambit. Shortly after, when the X-Men travelled into the past to the Skrull homeworld, Marrow was healed when Gambit took her to the Skrull equivalent of a hospital. The alien equipment enhanced Marrow's powers, giving her greater control over her bone growth.

Marrow eventually left the X-Men after the High Evolutionary created a device that nullified all mutant's powers. Sarah attempted a normal life and returned to school. However, once the High Evolutionary's device was destroyed, she found herself reverting to her original persona and powers.

Driven insane, she eventually fell into the clutches of S.H.I.E.L.D., who brainwashed her into believing she was an Empire State University student. Using a mental trigger, Sarah would revert into Marrow and S.H.I.E.L.D. utilised her to track down and destroy renegade Life Model Decoys (LMDs).

Spider-Man eventually discovered S.H.I.E.L.D.'s manipulation and clashed with Marrow, who escaped by jumping from a bridge. Washing up into the sewers, Marrow was found by Hemingway from Gene Nation and returned home. [Spider-Man/Marrow #1]

Marrow approached the recently revived Weapon X project in the hopes of them giving her a "normal" body. Scientists at the project were able to alter Marrow's genetic code, slowing her bone disfigurement and granting her the ability to generate bone knives at will.

For her first assignment, Marrow was ordered to assassinate D'Gard, the leader of Gene Nation and the man who once saved Marrow's life. After being pushed to the emotional brink by her Weapon X teammates Kane and Mesmero, Marrow fulfilled her mission objective.

During the time Cable's mutant Underground attacked the Weapon X compound, Marrow fought and narrowly defeated Sabretooth. This made her realize that she didn't belong with the Weapon X program, despite what they had done for her. She rescued Cable and his militia, and then used the Underground's resources to restart Gene Nation and wage a new war on humanity. She then became the target of Agent Zero, who began to wipe various Gene Nation resistance cells. Agent Zero spared her life however, but promised to return after he had destroyed Gene Nation.

Currently, Marrow is living with the remaining Morlocks. She told reporter Sally Floyd that she made an oath. She'll stay until the day comes that they can leave [the sewers] and remain free. [Generation M #4]

Marrow is a mutant whose physiology has radically altered from the human norm. She had at one time possessed two hearts; the second continued functioning when the first was removed.

Many of Marrow's bones originally grew to an abnormally large size and protrude from her skin without causing any physical damage to herself. Those bones are normally blade-shaped, and Marrow is proficient at using these blades as throwing weapons or in hand-to-hand combat. Once Marrow removed those bones, new bones grew in their place at an unspecified rapid rate.

Marrow's entire skeleton has enhanced durability, giving her some degree of physical protection against concussive impact.

Thanks to genetic altering by the Weapon X project, Marrow can now control her excess bone growth.

I'd add Storm to formally enemies. After all, Storm DID rip out her heart. And add Gambit to the allies, maybe formally. He did pretty her.

ummmm her current group affiliation is wepon-x. also marrow is now cured of her uncontollable bone growth and can now sprout bones at wil. also under enemies should be mesmero since he did trick her in to sleeping with him. this all happened in the current wepon-x isssue marrrow draft. also under hair it should be pink since marrow has never had purple hair.

IIRC, her first appearce w/ Weapon X was in WeaponX : Marrow which came out today. Some bios aren't up to the date, they take a little time to get there.

why does it say her hair is purple and so is her skin? marrow has never had purple hair or skin! i demand correction on my one of my favourite super heros!

it says pale purple skin. Her skins is kinda purpule palish, IMHO.

no it isn't yes marrow is pale but she doesn't have purple skin! if she had purple skin she would have been noticed as a mutant by people at the club when all her bone protusions were gone. also again aren't you going to fix her hair color its pink not purple.

Nope. Though she is naturally quite strong.

its also how many martial artist go around. They learn that w/ leverage you can flip the tallest person even if you are the smallest person.

I'm sure she learned some of that during her time w/ the X-Men. They have some of the best martial artist sitting there.

Not to mention the fact that to make it to the top of The Hill, she had to train herself to be a better fighter than all the other 2nd generation Morlocks she was competing against... she didn't become one of the top dogs of GeneNation for doing nothing...

it can also be said that with the control of her powers her strength became inhance to super human levels. and that she was meant to be that stronge all along but the constant bone growth prevented that.
