Real Name: InapplicableFormer Aliases: M-5 First Appearance: Onslaught: Epilogue Group Affiliation: Mannites Major Enemies: Apocalypse, Cerebro, Bastion Known Allies: Renee Majcomb, Professor X, X-Men Nina, like her fellow Mannites, is a product of some bizarre government experiment to create a being who could mentally interface with computers. As Nina has shown, they succeeded. Nina was a prisoner in Bastion's Hulkbuster base when she met Professor Charles Xavier. "Charley", as she called him, realized Nina's enormous potential and risked his life to get her out of the prison. With the help of a manhunter assigned to the base, Nina faked her own death, and teleported to the surface once her "remains" were loaded onto a helicopter for disposal. She was picked up by Doctor Renee Majcomb, a member of Xavier's Mutant Underground network, and taken to safety. Soon after, however, Nina and Renee were attacked by Cerebro, who was after his creator, Professor X. Since Nina had imprinted "Charley's" brain pattern onto her own, like a baby bird imprints its mother's face into its memory, Cerebro thought she was Xavier and attempted to abduct her. Majcomb fled with Nina to another safehouse in a mountain range in Tajikinistan, but Cerebro was relentless, killing all the monks there to get to his target. Even the intervention of the X-Men couldn't stop Cerebro from finally achieving his goal, and Nina was taken to the mad computer's stronghold. There she rejoined Xavier, and restored his powers, which had been lost since Onslaught. Then, she and Xavier telepathically showed Cerebro the uniqueness of humanity, forcing his nanites back to their source and overloading his circuit. Nina went back to living with Majcomb, but was soon frightened by another unknown entity. She was teleported by the Mannites to their hideout, and together they hid from the Horseman of Apocalypse known as Death. In desperation, Nina sent a telepathic call to Xavier, which was intercepted by Phoenix. Though the X-Men had been disbanded by Xavier, Jean quickly gathered a team to help Nina and the Mannites. The X-Men were successful in saving the Mannites, though seemingly at the cost of Wolverine's life. It was later revealed that the Wolverine who had died was actually a Skrull imposter. To date, Nina has expressed control of mechanical devices, teleportation, and telepathy with humans and with machines.
