Real Name: Guido CarosellaFirst Appearance: New Mutants (1st series) #29 (as Guido), X-Factor (1st series) #72 (as Strong Guy) Known Relatives: Parents (deceased) Group Affiliation: X-Factor Investigations (previously known as XXX Investigations/Investigators), formerly bodyguard of Lila Cheney, formerly Tokyo Arena, X-Factor II Known Allies: Jamie Madrox, Wolfsbane, Lila Cheney, Dazzler II, X-Men, formerly X-Factor II Major Enemies: Nasty Boys, Charon, Blob Powers: Kinetic energy absorption Height: 7' Weight: 750 lbs Eyes: Blue Hair: White/blond Best friend of and bodyguard to intergalactic rock star Lila Cheney, Guido Carosella is a mutant who once served for a time with the government-sponsored X-Factor team, taking on the codename of Strong Guy. Always quick with a joke, he uses humor to cover up the fact that he is in constant pain from his mutant power. During a mission with X-Factor while protecting his former employer, Lila Cheney, Carosella threw himself on a bomb. Carosella was able to absorb the kinetic energy but after he had released that energy, his body could not stand the strain and he suffered a heart attack that put him in a deep coma. Carosella eventually came out of the coma. His heart still weak, the mutant inventor Forge created a device that would give Carosella's heart small amounts of kinetic energy, which would cause it to adapt to his body whenever he needed to use kinetic energy. Carosella since went back to work for Lila Cheney as her bodyguard for a brief time but when she wasn't around anymore, Guido became one of the fighters in Tokyo Arena. He didn't like living by the strict rules of the Arena anymore and obviously left after Storm and Callisto took over the Arena network and changed its rules. Currently, Strong Guy works for Madrox's (Multiple Man) detective agency, X-Factor Investigations, located in that part of New York City called Mutant Town (which was also known as "District X"). It was Strong Guy who chose that name for the agency, changing it from "XXX". [Madrox #1-5] Strong Guy, along with Wolfsbane and Siryn, helped end an anti-mutant bigots' attack on the former mutants of Mutant Town. Guido is addicted to the online game known as Lingo, for which he has set a new high record. Guido's upper body causes him agonizing pain. He went to see a hypnotist for help. Unfortunately, the hypnotist made him a sleeper agent for Singularity Investigations instead. When Mr. Tryp of SI called Guido and gave him the trigger, Guido murdered an SI employee who was blowing the whistle on SI's plan to create a virus that targets mutants. He also attacked Rictor before Quicksilver stopped him. Guido confessed what happened to the SI employee's widow, who understood and talked him into not turning himself in. She considered Guido another victim of Singularity. Strong Guy has the ability to absorb kinetic energy and to use it to enhance his physical strength up to an unknown level. Strong Guy cannot store the kinetic energy he absorbs for very long and must physically expend it within 90 seconds. Otherwise, the energy will physically distort his body permanently, such as when his powers first manifested as a young boy, causing an unusual percentage of body mass to concentrate in the upper half of his body. When not absorbing kinetic energy, Strong Guy is in the Superhuman Class 50 strength range. Strong Guy has stood toe-to-toe with both the Hulk and the Blob. Strong Guy is a formidable hand-to-hand combatant, relying mainly on streetfighting techniques and his skills as a bouncer. Guido's other talents include musical comedy acting and stand-up comedy. Strong Guy is also nearsighted and wears corrective lenses to compensate. actually he first appeared later in New Mutants 29 when Cannonball & Magik go to Lila Cheney's place for help
in New Mutants Annual 1 there is a brief appearance of a big tough guy lookin bruiser roodie who's name is never mentioned & doesn't have the patented glasses and most importantly has hair were Guido does not other than that no other possible Guido Appearances in the entire annual I believe it to be an early misconception I as well remember reading that he first appeared in that issue either in a wizard or on a card that sort of thing but after reading the issue I came to conclude otherwise |

He had an aunt, uncle, and little cousin that they visited once... I think the cousin may have had MS or something.

Guido was a major player in one of the main x-titles for several years. I wonder why the choice not to include him in the X-Men Encyclopedia.

I probably shouldn't open the can of worms of who was chosen and who wasn't. I'm sure we all have our personal favorites who were left out. Eric himself wanted an entry for cr+ee or whatever that thing's name was. |

Guido didn't actually appear in "X-Factor" v.3, #5, but a new fact about him was mentioned in the recap page and has been added to his bio.
